Echocardiogram

This is a process where the images of the human heart are produced using sound waves. ECHO allows the doctor to view your heart pumping and beating blood and helps in identifying heart diseases.

FAQ

WHY WILL A DOCTOR RECOMMEND AN ECHO?

An ECHO helps in determining the following:

  • To determine if shortness of breath or chest pain is caused by heart-related complications.
  • To detect congenital heart defects before the birth of a child
  • To determine if there are any problems with the chambers or valves of the heart.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF ECHO?

  • Transthoracic echocardiogram

ARE THERE ANY RISKS INVOLVED IN UNDERGOING AN ECHO?

You do not have to make any precautions in case of a standard transthoracic echocardiogram. You are free to eat or drink normally.
